"She spoke about having her whole family around her, holding hands with them, feeling connected to these people who loved her infinitely. She used that word at some point referring to her family’s love, infinite, and I thought about how infinity is not a large number. It is something else entirely. It is boundlessness. We live in a world defined by it’s boundaries. You cannot travel faster than the speed of light. You must and will die. You cannot escape these boundaries. But the miracle and hope of human consciousness is that we can still conceive of boundlessness."
John Green, This Star Won’t Go Out
#1: A Mercy by Toni Morrison
This is the only book I’ve read so far this year because I couldn’t cheat on it with another book. It was too good. I savored the hell out of this book and I didn’t want it to end. But it did, and it was beautiful and amazing because everything Toni Morrison writes is beautiful and amazing.
#30: Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh
OH MY GOD. ALL THE FEELS. EVERY LAST FEEL. I’m so madly in love with Allie Brosh that it is borderline weird and definitely awkward. I loved every second of this book, even the stories that I’d already read on her blog. It’s hilarious, poignant and absolutely fucking perfect. Absolutely read this wonderful piece of brilliance over and over again.
#31: That’s Not a Feeling by Dan Josefson
Touching and funny and ruthlessly mocking of new age adults and their strategies for coping with acting-out teens and brilliantly written. It’s got a slow pace but not so slow that you lose interest. I picked this one up at random and I genuinely liked it. It’s odd and dark and weird. All the things I love.
#29: The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories 3 by Joseph Gordon-Levitt
This is one of the most unique, sweetly melancholy and beautiful books I’ve picked up in a long time. There’s nothing like it. Each page is a tiny story with gorgeous illustrations accompanying it. Each story is so different from the one before it that I read it twice in one sitting. It ranges from hilarious to heartbreaking and I loved every minute of it. Go out and buy it right now, I demand it!
#28: Last Night at the Viper Room by Gavin Edwards
Let us just take a second and look at how sexy River Phoenix was. Okay, now we may proceed. This is quite possibly one of the best and most beautiful biography I’ve read in years. I fell so deeply into his life that I sort of forgot I had my own going on. It’s one of those books that lingers with you long after you’ve read it and you wish it wouldn’t end. Absolutely recommend it, especially if you’re on the hunt for a great biography.

#27: My biggest testament to how much I like a book is the amount of time I spend annoying other people with my endless commentary on it. And I had some lengthy, passionate speeches about Divergent. I was IN. TO. IT. All I want to do is talk about it with other people that have read it so we can debate which faction we would be in. Anyway, go read it. My only complaint is that it gave me lady blue balls due to the fact that it’s a YA novel so the sexual tension remains just that and nothing more. JUST WANTED A BOOB GRAB OR SOMETHING.
Anyway, go read it. It’s exciting stuff. I hope Insurgent doesn’t suck.
