#30: Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger
I’m a die hard Salinger fan ever since reading Franny and Zooey in high school so reading his stories makes me feel nostalgic and comforted. He’s a master of literature and one of the most highly praised authors of the 20th century for pretty good reason. His writing mimics life in the way that he weaves perfect details with perfect dialogue, in his examination of the shortcomings of adults and the innocence of children, and the wry humor you find buried in each character. That and the story “Uncle Wiggly in Connecticut” is probably a great title for some child porn, or a really twee band.
J.D Salinger died. Franny and Zooey and the Glass family changed the way I looked at literature and made me a better writer. The world just got a little less awesome. Rest in peace, Salinger.
